Influenza

Flu is common throughout the Winter months, normally October - April.

The virus is spread through contact with other infected people or items that have been contaminated through touch. It is a treatable condition but can be serious in more vulnerable sections of the community like the very young, elderly or those suffering from a Long Term Condition.

As the virus evolves each year, new vaccines are produced to try and combat the new strain which is why National campaigns are run to immunise all vulnerable groups and those over 65. You will be invited by your Surgery to come in for a vaccine if you are eligible and if you are, it is very important that you do attend to protect yourself as well as others around you.
